Glidden, Iowa, is a thriving community in west-central Iowa. Located on US Highway 30 just outside of Carroll, Iowa, Glidden is just eighty miles northwest of Des Moines, Iowa. The community of Glidden boasts a high quality of life for a small city with the Aquatic Center, three major parks, two banks, library, a trail system and butterfly garden and the Glidden-Ralston school district. Glidden is known as the home of Merle D. Hay, who was the first American soldier killed in World War I. Glidden offers its residents services that are expected in larger cities.
